The Alabama Real Estate Commission requires most real estate licensees to take 15 hours of continuing education (CE) prior to renewing their real estate license. Only one class is specifically required: Risk Management.

In 2008 at the request of the Alabama Real Estate Commission, the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) contracted with Jim Lawrence ABR, ABRM, CRB educator and broker for LAH in Birmingham, to write a new Risk Management course and to "teach" this course to the other Alabama real estate instructors.
